I’ve been yoga hopping quite a while in search of the perfect yoga studio (away from all the buzz about Bikram). Being a little addict, I’ve resided to multiple studios, most of which offer classes in English, as well as prenatal yoga. Here are the top five:
Where: Große Mohrengasse 23, 1020
The modern second district studio is a personal favourite of mine. It offers daily morning Mysore routines, as well as Yin, Hatha, Ashtanga and Prenatal classes. Yoga Werkstatt students and teachers have developed into a warm welcoming family, led by Sascha and Romana Delberg.
Where: Thaliastraße 2, 1160
The pristine, bright yoga studio is worth a morning commute. Located in Viennas 16th district, the studio offers Mysore, Ashtanga and Vinyasa classes led by professionally certified teachers. Classes are offered in English and German, and if you go on Sunday you’ll be rewarded with homemade cupcakes.
Where: Bösendorferstraße 9, 1010
If you’re American, or have experienced yoga studios in the US, you’ll feel at home at Yoga Kula. Most classes follow the Vinyasa practice and are taught in English.
Where: Passauer Platz 2/7, 1010
Doktor Yoga is the perfect studio for vinyasa lovers, who can't picture a yoga practice without music. Classes are short and precise, and you are guaranteed a quick sweat in the beautiful spacious studio.
Where: Prinz Eugen-Straße 18, 1040
The spacious studio offers regular teacher training workshops, retreats, as well as cooking workshops. Sivananda offers a lifestyle, and you are transported into a different world the moment you enter this hidden gem.
Where: Lindengasse 38, 1070
Tattooed and free spirited Yogis practicing both Yin and Vinyasa yoga fill One Yoga’s studio space in the midst of Vienna’s hip seventh district. Zen tea and the fashionable atmosphere will make even the most stressed Viennese person relax.
