‘Grosse Freiheit’ is Austria’s submission for the upcoming Oscars and already won the Jury prize Cannes film festival.
It follows the story of Hans Hoffmann, a homosexual man in post-war Germany, who’s been arrested several times for his sexual orientation. After being thrown into prison once again, he meets the convicted murderer Viktor. While both despise each other at first, a certain affection starts to grow between them over the years.
