A fascinating exhibition of a Georgian painter @ the Albertina
Niko Pirosmani
When: Daily until January 27th 2019
Where: Albertina
Entry: 14€ Adults (11€ students)
One of this seasons’ highlights in the Albertina is the Georgian painter, Niko Pirosmani. In the words of the curators: he’s the ‘avant-garde’s hero to be discovered.’ Born in Georgia under Russian rule, he spent his life as a nomadic artist, hopping from one tavern to another, painting pictures in exchange for somewhere to sleep and a warm meal. That’s why his work is scattered across taverns in Georgia and Russia! With his own style, this autodidact brings to life motifs from his native Georgia, its people and their traditions. The exhibit is on in the Albertina until January!
