Films about urban planning and the fight against the rich developers
Architektur.Film.Sommer: The Future of Yesterday
When: WED, August 9, 8:30pm–11pm
Where: Az W Architekturzentrum

As a generation, we demand a lot more from a city than previous generations ever thought of – urban gardens, bike paths and the like – however, this movement had to start somewhere. This Wednesday, you can learn yo’self the history of the movement in the form of three films that look at the history and fight of people to make cities their own, and not the developers. The focus of the films are on the famous battle: Jane Jacobs versus the developers of New York.
Recommended if you like: urban planning, post-war architecture, architecture, the idea of the future being green, typically far out and quirky titles for architecture film evenings, a woman sticking it to the man, feminism, short films, documentary films, grass root uprisings, being an active member of society
