In mediaeval times, underground caves – or let’s call them erdstalls (because we’re professional like that) – were built and nobody really knows why. At the gallery, Photoinstitut Bonartes, you can get a glimpse of super old photographs of said mysterious erdstalls located in the area from Lower Austrian to South Bavaria. The Photographer behind those pictures, Emil Wrbata, was the first head of the photographer’s salon of the Viennese Police, which was founded in 1898, as he was also a crime scene photographer.
