Eröffnungsfest des Hauses der Geschichte Österreich

The new museum on Contemporary Austrian History opens its doors!

Eröffnungsfest des Hauses der Geschichte Österreich

When: SAT, November 10, 11am–9pm
Where: Haus der Geschichte Österreich
Entry: 8€ (6€ concessions, free entry for under 19y/o)

The House of Austrian History is the new kid on the block – the ‘block’ being Vienna’s rich cultural mosaic! Just in time for the 100th anniversary of the Republic, this new museum and cultural hub will open its doors this Saturday with a killer opening programme (plus free admission until the 12th of November) that includes a speech by a Nobel Prize winner, special readings and live music from afternoon into the evening. This innovative museum wants to be a forum for discussing Austria’s contemporary history, which is precisely the focus of their inaugural exhibition, ‘Into the Unknown – Austria since 1918’, which covers the last century since the founding of the Republic. We know Vienna’s museum game is off the charts, and this one seems to fit right in – definitely worth checking it out!
