Singer-songwriter Jade Bird may have a debut EP called ‘Something American’ and an ‘Alanis Morissette for millennials’ vibe, but she’s actually from London. Learning she’s a former stage school pupil may sound off-putting (giving us, as it does, off-putting images of ‘Jazz hands’ and musicals), but her songs – which span genres such as traditional Country, lively Pop, revealing Folk and roaring Blues – sound as genuine as anyone else’s.
