Leopold Museum’s latest exhibition showcases the work of the photographer Otto Schmidt. Back in 1873 Schmidt got successful with his ‘Wiener Typen’ series and produced master studies that served as illustrative material for artists as well as craftsmen and architects. His most lucrative business, however, was his nude imagery, which actually was the most extensive in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. Yes, you read that right, you can see actual historic nudes from the 19th century at the museum.
