Tecnobrega will be on the stage this Friday and Saturday at the Tanzquartier, and if you don’t know what that is, well, you are in the same boat as us. However, we learnt, as you will, that Tecnobrega is a kind of folk dance, taking inspiration from a strangely Caribbean-influenced part of Northern Brazil, and has been laced with synths and drum machines. In this performances, the dancers will seemingly be possessed by ghosts and be juxtaposed against scenes of modernity in the form of visuals and internet memes. Here are the boys in action:
