Joana Mallwitz will be conducting at her Viennese Konzerthaus and Wiener Symphoniker debut this Monday. She’ll be performing with the band the first act of the Valkyrie, which is one of the most powerful music dramas in Richard Wagner’s ‘The Ring of the Nibelung’, with three singers (Jennifer Holloway, Stephen Gould and Hans-Peter King). Also on the bill from Wagner is ‘Siegfried Idyll’, which he wrote as a birthday present to his second wife Cosima (a tad more impressive than a bag of Mozart balls). If you’re cultured enough to think of something different to us when we hear the phrase “G-string”, you may well love this.
