The pub quiz is a great reason to grab your brainiest friends and head out on a weeknight. Luckily, Vienna has a raft of places where thousands of Euros can be won. Here’s a list of Vienna’s best pub quizzes:

Four Bells – Pub Quizzes

When: Every Monday, 8pm
Costs: Free
Prizes: Small cash and voucher prizes. 1st place wins a bottle of booze, 2nd and 3rd prize win a free round of shots.

How many questions? 20
Language: English and German

Difficulty factor (in their own words): intermediate.
What to expect? Plenty of general knowledge, music-themed questions. Lots of free shots. The lack of big money prizes takes the ruthless competition factor out and replaces it with a good atmosphere, with more of a focus on fun.

Johnny’s Pub – Pub Quizzes

When: Every Tuesday, 7pm

Prizes: A jackpot that regularly climbs into the thousands. The winning team wins 30 € and free drinks.

How many questions? 20
Language: German and English

Difficulty factor (in their own words): Pretty easy, to heavy shit. Depending how the quizmaster Marco is feeling
What to expect? This is one of the most well-known pub quizzes in Vienna and according to the bar staff: “It’s always a good Craic.” The quiz is followed by a happy hour at 10pm, which is useful to either celebrate your win, or drown your sorrows after losing to a team called “Quiz in my pants.”

Down Under – Pub Quizzes

When: Every Thursday, 9pm
Cost: Free
Prizes: There’s a jackpot that often works its way up to a thousand Euros, which is won if a team answers every single question correctly. Otherwise, 1st prize wins a free round of drinks. Also, the team that guesses the song of the bonus music question also wins a free round of drinks.

How many questions? 15
Language: German

Difficulty factor (in their own words): Compared to other pub quizzes, it would rate medium to hard in difficulty.
What to expect? A maximum of 6 people per team. They also have a unique feature in which a song is sometimes played after each question that offers a hidden hint to the answer.
