Wienerberg – Escape to nature in Vienna

If you ever want to be in nature without leaving the city, then Wienerberg is a great option. Over 100 hectares of greenland with a peaceful lake – the Wienerbergteich – in the middle make up this incredibly wild nature park in the 10th district of Vienna. There are great trails for running here, too, with marked routes going for over 10km around the whole area, and also offering some great sights over the meadows and the lake below.

A few locals go here to swim and sunbathe in summer (clothes seem optional) yet the park is so big it never gets busy. Wooden picnic tables are sprinkled around the park and there are a few spots to get drinking water, but not much else, so you’ll really feel like you’ve left the city behind on this adventure.

How to get there: find your way to Reumannplatz in the 10th district and then jump on the tram 67 that leaves you just at the entrance of the park. Buses 15A or 7A also go past there.
