1. Describe your style in 9 words or less.
Usually bright, warm tones, a bit muted, sometimes moody.
2. What equipment do you use to photograph?
I’ve been a Nikon user for years. Currently, I shoot on a mirrorless Fujifilm X-T2 and I just love it! I use a 12mm f2.0 lens for most of the city and landscape shots and there is always a 23mm f2.0 standard and a 56mm f1.2 portrait lens in my bag. For the postproduction, I use Lightroom on my Mac. Usually I start with Fuji’s Classic Chrome film simulation as the base for the edit. With its low colour saturation and full-bodied tones, it’s perfect for my taste. I also like monochrome and post to my other account (@acrospot) from time to time.
3. Name three of your favourite locations to shoot?
In such a beautiful city as Vienna, it’s really hard to pick three favourite shooting locations, but if you check my profile, it’s clear that Schönbrunn and Karlskirche are currently among the top. I like to shoot in the heart of the city centre, in general.
4. Tell us about your art.
I love details, reflections, shadows, leading lines and of course, bokeh. I don’t really focus on anything else than capturing the moment, what I feel, and what I see, or have imagined in the moment. I walk around the streets with an open mind.
5. What is the wildest experience you’ve had while producing your shots?
I’m not climbing buildings, bridges or cranes. I’m not breaking into private property. But when I think about it, I probably should, because some of those places give you some unseen magnificent views of the city. I once convinced a friend to light up his cigarette using a deodorant spray as flame thrower to get a cool shot.
6. Did Instagram change how you see the world?
It changed how I see social networks in general, for sure. It’s a science, and can be quite unpredictable, sometimes. Instagram gave me a reason to shoot, though. To create something new and put it out into the world for people to see and get some feedback – that was a huge motivation for me.
7. Who’s your current favourite Instagram artist?
It’s really hard to pick one favourite. The first one who comes to my mind is Jack Morris (@doyoutravel) so probably he’s my overall favourite. Recently, I discovered Olivier Wong (@wonguy974) whose pictures are totally my taste. From the locals, Klaus’ (@naikon_) style is the closest to mine. I would also mention Patrik Paulinyi (@patrikpaulinyi), a Slovak fella’ traveling the world and posting wonderful pics.
8. What’s your favourite place in Vienna?
To be honest, I’m yet to find my favourite place, but I like Brass Monkey for their super delicious cupcakes and Cafe Frei for their coffee specialities from around the globe.
9. What does Vienna mean to you and how has it influenced your work?
Vienna revived the photographer in me. It gave me back my hobby that I thought was gone. It’s a beautiful city that I now call home.
10. Is there any music that inspires you in your work?
I love film soundtrack music. The works of John Williams, Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard, Howard Shore. But I listen to a vast variety of genres, from classical to alternative, rock or DnB. I love music.
